An important part of our philosophy for the development of people with intellectual disabilities is the Therapies programme.

Curative Education and Social Therapy are the two core dimensions, as well as healthcare founded on nutritious diets (based on biodynamic produce where possible) and general and homeopathic medical care.

Medical Care and Nursing Therapy – a local GP (who is an anthroposophical doctor) provides medical support for our residents. An anthroposophical nurse is employed to support care and supervision for the daily life of children in the school. The Nurse works closely with the school and curative education therapists working with the children.

Curative Education – At the heart of Curative Education is the conviction that beyond any learning, physical or emotional difficulty a child has, there is always an intact spirit. A Fundamental principle of Curative Education is that of Rhythm.

When rhythms are in harmony we feel well:
  • breathing and circulation
  • waking / sleeping patterns
  • activity / rest balance
  • listening / speaking
  • work / recreation balance
Through individualised sessions with specialist therapists as a part of the school programme, the child’s creative expression, thought and movement is developed through art, music and movement (eurythmy).

Communication skills are developed as needed through speech therapy.

Social Therapy
- The skills of relating to others and interacting successfully in social situations are important for successful inclusion in society. Social therapy principles are applied as a part of the school, adult day programmes and residential settings, with specific plans to develop individual capabilities under the supervision and guidance of our manager of professional services.
